And thats a wrap folks. I think I did pretty good, even if I mostly read manga. The main point was just to get me reading again and at least for now I have the urge to read some more (but not tonight I am going straight to bed).
How would you assess your reading overall?
I think I did pretty good. I mostly read manga which is super easy to read but for me the goal was to start wanting to read again, and I think I have done it.
Did you have a stategy, and if so, did you stick to it?
Just to read easy thing to keep me motivated and thats what I did.
What was your favorite snack?
Didn’t actually do that many snacks. I tried a new prawn and crab dib which was ok but I think I will just go with my bottle of V. It kept me alive haha.
Here is my final bingo board. I think next time I might try and focus on this more cause it may get me to pick up something I might not naturally reach for!

Well I think I am gonna go pass out now. See you all next time!
I finally managed to do hour eights challenge! Find it here.
Hour tens challenge.
“What menagerie lives in your favorite books?” Find the challenge thread here.
Bookish would you rather. Find the challenge here.
It is very important that you do not read the questions until AFTER you have completed the following:
Create a list of TEN BOOKS that you have read. You don’t need to remember everything about them, but you should be able to identify the main character, love interest, and villain for each of them.
Write down (or type) the list and number the books from 1-10.
Here are the books I have chosen. I found it actually challenging to find 10 books I remembered all the details for and that had a clear villain! Sort of by the nature of this there are spoilers for some of these books so if you haven’t read them but want to I might skip this challenge.
(Oh my god I just can’t work out this new wordpress picture insert process. I hate it)
If the main character of book 2 was trapped in the zombie apocalypse, would they have a better chance of surviving alone or with the love interest of book 7?
Definitely with the love interest of book 7! The main character of 2 while amazing isn’t useful.
Would you rather be trapped on an island with the love interest of book 1 or the main character of book 9?
Sorry Aelin from book 9, I will choose Rysand on an island any day.
Would you rather have an epic duel with the villain of book 4 or the main character of book 10?
With the villain from book 4. I am taking this to be a physical duel, an AI isn’t going to be much of a fight. If it was mental one though I will take on the Dhampir.
Would you rather trade lives with the love interest of book 3 forever or the villain of book 5 for a month?
The Villain from book 5 for month, doesn’t really matter what villain… The thought of being Daniel forever makes me want to gag.
If the love interest of book 6 were planning something dastardly, would the main character of book 1 or the villain of book 9 have a better chance at stopping them?
Oh god this one is hard… I have faith in Feyre while super useful at times I think because still learning about her powers in this book I think I will have to go with the the king in throne of glass (I went the larger villain rather than the smaller used 1). Royalty verses royalty. He has powers and many things at his disposal to help him beat the love interest in Red Queen.
Would it be better to have the love interest of book 5 in charge of the world for a week, or to have the main character of book 4 join forces with the villain of book 2?
I am gonna go with love interest of book 5 having a go of things for a week. He would make a difference in the world I think for that week, and I just don’t think the main character of 4 and the villain of book 2 would achieve anything because they are way too different.
If the main characters from books 2, 6, and 9 got together, could they defeat the villain of book 10 armed only with their wits and a bucket of rubber ducks?
Yes, 110% yes. Some of them have some strength with them and really thats all it took the defeat the villain in book 10 anyway. Well, not the ducks but certainly the wits.
Would you rather see a concert where the villain of book 8 was headlining, or a movie with the love interest of book 8 as the star?
I think I will actually go the the villain and the concert. President Snow is so posh, I am sure he has some training in a classical instrument and I can picture it being quite nice to see.
Would you rather have every meal made for you by the villain of book 5, or have to rhyme every other word with the main character’s name from book 7?
Knowing it would be signing my death warrant to pick the villain in book 5, I just don’t think I could rhyme every other word with Wanda or Wonderer. Just kill me.
The love interest of book 2 has been framed for murder! Will you have a better chance of solving it with the villain of book 6 or the main character of book 3?
Hands down the villain of book 6. One one of those options has any brains.
Now some of the challenges are just small ones for twitter, but hour thirteen is one I want to do but am just skipping. Its about making a mixtape for some books and I know I would just spend way too long trying to find the right songs to go along with the book so I am just not gonna try.
Grab a book, a piece of paper and a pen/pencil… Then close your eyes and try to draw the best way you can the cover of that book. Post it under this thread.
I tried to do an easy one… I didn’t go well hahaha. I need my eyes!

Now I spent quite a while doing these challenges and I had fun doing them! But unless one I really want to do pops up I think I will just pick a book I really want to start and just focus on that for the rest of the read-a-thon.
Welcome back for another update! I am getting quite tired, and I find myself to be freezing! I don’t know if this is because it’s actually cold or just my body desperately trying to make me go to bed haha.
Hour sixs challenge is:
Dungeons & Dragons Stereotypes – Where do your characters fit?
I’m curious, what Dungeons & Dragons Stereotypes have you found in your books and which ones would you want in your party? Create an adventuring party of characters you’ve read and use 4 or 5 of the following stereotypes.
Artificer – Gadget tinkerer who relies on machines for their abilities.
Barbarian – Always relies on their muscles and definitely an idiot.
Bard – Has incredible charisma and skills but uses them all for flirting.
Cleric – Designated healer even though they can do so much more. – Shuko seems to only be there for a strong helping hand but she would beat someone if she thought she needed to!
Druid – Uses their knowledge of herbs to get high and prefers to save the monster creatures.
Fighter – They just want to help but don’t know much about how other than hitting things. – Kominato tries so hard but he doesn’t really get anywhere. Granted he is trying to help Kou most the time and thats just a hard one to do.
Monk – Meditative fighter who uses their fists, never weapons.
Paladin – Stick-in-the-mud, goody-two-shoes, teacher’s pet, etc. – Mr. Tanaka is a stick in a the mud for a very good reason! Don’t be messing with your students boy.
Ranger – Underappreciated because it takes them so long to get powerful. – Yuri is quiet and cute but she is a strong friend and I think she deserves some more credit.
Rogue – Kleptomaniac emo. – Kou may not have really stolen anything but hearts yet, but god that boy needs to cheer up!
Sorcerer – Born talented and knows it and reminds everyone of it.
Warlock – Frequently needs to rest.
Wizard – The group nerd.
The challenge for hour eight is a book treasure hunt, but looking at the list some of the things on it that I tried finding and just couldn’t. Maybe I will try again after I have a nap…
Here is my bingo update!
Page Total: 1320
I finished 3 more volumes. Not as good as the last post but I blame that on doing these updates and doing some of the challenges that take a bit longer. This hour is pretty much over now for example so I wont get another volume in this one. My brain is also more tired so that is probably a key factor.
Hello my lovelies! I meant to do an update prior to now but I was in the swing of things and didn’t want to stop! How is everyone else doing in this read-a-thon? I am a bit tired but considering it is 2am in Brisbane right now I think I am doing pretty ok!
Now part of why I love this read-a-thon is the challenges. I posted hour 1 on instagram already if you want to check it out.
Now there is also a bingo happening as well!
I don’t know how much I am going to be taking part, but I hope to at least do a row. I should have given it more thought prior to the start of the read-a-thon and planned out my books better to get the bingos but I really wanted to read all thirteen volumes of Ao Haru Ride for this, so I guess when I am done with them I will think about it more. I think I would have ticked a couple of these off, but I will give an update on the bingo in a later post.
For hour 3s challenge we were to look at all the characters in that hour and see what names of characters we get introduce to are and pick another name for myself. I chose the name Yumi. I like the way it sounds and the characters while only in the manga volume for about 3 pages really inspired me. She shows up to apologize to the main character for something she did that was horrible to her earlier on in their lives, and I just really hope that if I am ever faced with a situation like that that I have the courage to own up to what I did, no matter the outcome.
Total Pages: 760
I have read 4 volumes thus far! I wont get one finished this hour as I am taking the time to write this up but I will catch back up in the next if I don’t stop to look at challenges haha. Pages are a bit hard to keep up with in manga since they don’t really number them, so my count is going by what good reads is telling me!
Also, as a side note. It took me way too long to work out how to get the pictures to do what I want in this new wordpress set up. Like 40 minutes…
The sleepiness is really catching up on me now, and the hunger. I am taking hour 6 off to write this up and to get some food into me and to grab another V, my beverage of choice at this time in the read-a-thon. I am honestly jealous of people in the time zones where theirs starts at the beginning of the day and not the end. I am hoping the food and V gives me another burst of energy but the food really could just put me to sleep.

I really want to finish my book before I crash though because I am so close! I might finish it in hour 7!
Mini Challenge – Modern Classics
“Which books, published in the 21st century will likely be classics 100 years from now?”
I found this challenge really hard because I think classics should really teach you something or shine a bright light on something that needs to be discussed and I don’t really feel that way coming out of many books. But here we go, I shall try to think of three.
Because it talks about something that shouldn’t be an issue in todays world, but is for a lot of people. It also does it in a very honest way. Click here for my review.
Because I think it raises a lot of questions about who we are as people, and how we expect or want things for people for our own gain, or assume things about others because we believe, without any hint that any of it is true. The meanings in this book should be discussed. Click here for my review.
Because it taught me to be more understanding of mental illness and of suicide. Suicide was something I really looked down on people for with no sympathy or compassion and really was a heartless cow. But this book made me see that its not just a selfish move on their part, that some people really just cant escape or call out for help when it comes to their mental health. Click here for my review.
What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them… all at once?
Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
Book Review – MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
I just want to make it perfectly clear for everyone encase you didn’t notice the series in the title, but this review is for the whole series. So if you don’t want to be spoilt for anything in any of the books and have not read them all, go forth and read then come back here and join me. All you need to know is that I loved this series, it was everything I didn’t know I needed, and it has firmly put contemporary as a go to genre for me. Goodbye I shall see you back here soon!
This is probably one of the cutest series I have ever read. This series is all about lobe in all shapes and forms. The relationship love in the books is amazing but it was really the family love that I adored.
Lara Jean has such an amazing relationship with her family, and this relationship actually changes and evolves throughout the books which I loved. At the start the family is very close nit with Lara Jean being closest with her oldest sister Margo, but with Margo going off to college Lara Jean then has to take over the older sister role for her younger sister Kitty. She wants to be perfect as she sees Margo being, and while she loved Kitty its not easy for her to make this transition, specially when they had more of a standard sibling relationship beforehand. The second Lara Jean and Kitty fight and her letters get sent out I knew straight away that it was Kitty. Specially since we have moments where we know that Kitty goes through her things. I had the briefest of moments where I thought it might have been Chris who actually sent out the letters, but that faded quickly and I was proved correct with Kitty. By the end of the series though Lara Jean’s and Kitty’s relationship is really heartwarming and loving.
We also had development with Margo and Lara Jean because LJ realises that Margo is in fact not actually perfect and Margo finds out that LJ had kissed her ex-boyfriend Josh while she was away at college. They mend this though and are still really close, knowing each other better than before because of these trials and different opinions on things. Then Lara Jean and Kitty help Margo come to better terms with the idea of their dad finally moving on from their mother with a woman they had known for years and lived across the street. I really liked that this woman come into their lives because she was helping Kitty train their dog and Kitty just wanted her around me. That girl is rather meddlesome haha.
Most importantly the main subject of the books, the boys that Lara Jean has loved before and her relationship with them. Every time we got to know what she said in those letters and know that the boys actually read them I wanted to die a little inside for her. Especially with John Ambrose McClaren. While her letter to Josh ultimately left it so that they were no longer like family, which really upset me that they lost that relationship I hoped they would go back to how things were, John’s was basically presented as the perfect guy in the book and i loved him and his story arc. I would have been okay with them ending up together, but I am glad that she is with Peter.
I loved the whole rollercoaster of their relationship. I love that they pretended to be in a relationship at the start and it slowly starts to morph into something real. I loved that their contract is something that carries on throughout all three of the books too. The part where she ran up and kissed Peter out the the blue to make Josh Jealous was amazing. Their development was very realistic to me even despite the really dramatic events that come up in the course of their relationship. Those things could very well happen. I did think that Lara Jean was probably a little harsh on Peter about some of the things though.
However, Peter has moments where he was not my favourite. When he took back that necklace I wanted to smack him. Yes he gave it to her to begin with and she got it back in the end, but it was a gift! Just because you bought it doesn’t mean you get to ask for it back! I think he was also really stupid with the whole Jen (whom I hated) situation. He should have just been honest with Lara Jean about how he was helping her out and meeting up with her, rather than having Lara Jean walk in on them hugging. He was also a bit stupid when it came to her choice of college. Other than those things though, and especially by the 3rd book, he was bloody adorable and so sweet to Lara Jean it was almost sickening. When he picked Kitty up for her birthday with flowers and took her to school in his convertible all by herself, it melted my heart. I also really loved the scene where he helps her bake cupcakes.
I also really liked her relationship with Chris. Chris is kind of like a cat that comes and goes as she pleases, but she was such a good friend she convinced Lara Jean to go on a spontaneous trip to check out her college. The whole thing was so cute. It broke my heart in the 3rd book when they had to say goodbye to each other. Even though we didn’t get all whole lot of her in the series, their goodbye when Chris goes to travel is a real goodbye since Chris probably wont come back and she was such an important part of Lara Jeans life.
Really I could just keep repeating how cute I think this series is, but I want you to experience it to. So if you have read this review and have yet to do the series, go do it. If you like this that will warm the heart, lots of baking talk, and just contemporary in general I think you will really enjoy this series. I for one, am going to watch the movie right now!
So while I still have a nearly an hour left before my final day in this read-a-thon draws to a close, I am going to rest it here I think and call the end for me. While sometimes I can handle doing two weeks of read-a-thons, apparently this is not one of those times. I feel extremely sleep deprived, always having to be up with the sun and staying up late so I can actually get some reading done in the day. This plus the stress of hating my job and family issues that have been happening its taken a toll on me and I feel just destroyed and unwell. Having pushed through Half Bad must not have helped, because it made me feel like stopping earlier.
So today, day 7, I call a bust because I decided to go have a bit of fun and take my best friend, her little sister and her little friend to Dreamworld for the day. It was awesome, so I don’t feel bad about not spending the day reading. I finished 3 out of the 4 books I planned on reading, and I got half way and more through a couple of other books as well which adds up. So yay me! I also really liked taking part in all the challenges <3
So here are my end results:

I hope you all had a wonderful Bout of Books 13, as I know I did!
AYearAThon is a read a thon that happens each month throughout the year with different themes. You can find the goodreads group here.
Since I haven’t done a read-a-thon in ages I am back again for another theme for the year-a-thon! November’s theme runs from the 3-9. There doesn’t seem to be a specific time in which this starts, I am starting the clock at midnight my time. This months theme is:
I’m out of a job, I’m out of a job! Lets gets crazy, I can actually read heaps this week since I have NOTHING else to do. Lets go baby!
I am just going to add the Lunar Chronicles to my TBR right now because I have no idea what else to put on there. I will have to work it out once I have charged through this lot ;)
Share your lists if you are participating, I always like to know these things.
So as those of you who read my blogs I took time off from reviewing because I needed to focus on my studies. But I have now completed my written work and am moving onto my work experience which means I have time to read again! I tell you, I was going a bit nuts, I need to read.
So what else have I done while I have been away. I got seriously sick to the point were I couldnt move or eat or really drink anything for over a week. I saw despicable me 2 (it was awesome). I had my birthday and saw The Wolverine (it was stupid). Then it was my boyfriends birthday and we saw Now You See Me (it was enjoyable enough). Amongst all that there were some dinners out with his family and lots of homemade cakes.
To celebrate no more written work I went and saw the band Flyleaf live. They were totally amazing. Then last night I saw P!nk live which was just out of this world. If you like P!nk, or even if you are open to going to random concerts, go to one of her shows. She really entertains. There were at least 3 songs where she didnt touch the ground at all, there were people shooting and spinning all over the place. What have you guys been up to?
Anyway expect reviews to start coming up within the next week.
