August Wrap Up + September TBR

wrapup

So the slump continues. I think its actually being caused by my lack of motivation to write reviews lately. I don’t read more because if I read more before I write a review for the last book I read my memories may become lesser and I will have a harder time writing it… I need to work this stuff out because I am so far behind my goodreads challenge because of it.

Now because I missed last months wrap up so here are the books I read in the last two months, in the order that I read them.

I am pretty confident that I can get all these books plus my read-a-thon ones this month because tafe goes on holidays then so I will have some extra time.

Book Haul – July & August

Book Haul

Now I don’t remember in when in this time I got any of these books, so they are in no particular order. Welcome to my birthday book haul :)

whats left of meI should not exist. But I do.

Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t . . .

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable-hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet . . . for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.

sandman vol 1The Sandman is the universally lauded masterwork following Morpheus, Lord of the Dreaming–a vast hallucinatory landscape housing all the dreams of any and everyone who’s ever existed. Regardless of cultures or historical eras, all dreamers visit Morpheus’ realm–be they gods, demons, muses, mythical creatures, or simply humans who teach Morpheus some surprising lessons.

Upon his escape from an embarrassing captivity at the hands of a mere mortal, Morpheus finds himself at a crossroads, forced to deal with the enormous changes within both himself and his realm. His journey to find his place in a world that’s drastically changed takes him through mythical worlds to retrieve his old heirlooms, the back roads of America for a twisted reunion, and even Hell itself–to receive the dubious honor of picking the next Devil. But he’ll learn his greatest lessons at the hands of his own family, the Endless, who–like him–are walking embodiments of the most influential aspects of existence.

This massive hardcover tome, over 1000 pages, collects the first 37 issues of Neil Gaiman’s groundbreaking series!

nana18Things aren’t looking good for Blast. Shin, under extreme stress from the band’s rising success and his relationship with Reira, seeks out reconciliation wherever he can. Reestablishing ties with his own family turns out to be a horrible failure, and before he can connect Nana with her unknown little sister, Shin gets arrested! Is this the end of Blast?!

to kill a mocking birdThe unforgettable novel of a childhood in a sleepy Southern town and the crisis of conscience that rocked it, To Kill A Mockingbird became both an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was later made into an Academy Award-winning film, also a classic.

Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior—to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature.

Water_BabiesThe story follows Tom in his land-life as a climbing boy for a chimney-sweep and in his after-life as a water-baby, where he gains redemption from selfishness as well as from drudgery. Well I am quite pleased with what I accomplished during this week. I read double what I thought I would be able to read. Audio books seems to work when I am busy. I liked most these books quite a lot but I will be taking a break from them because I just can’t handle doing anymore in a row.

I don’t think I will participating in the next months topic, and maybe the one after that, so don’t expect anything from me for this then.

I was very annoyed today (day 5) because my reading slumped! So so so annoyed. I have been listening at work but today people wouldn’t leave me alone to listen and kept trying to talk over my book so I just had to turn it off. I feel like it will be the same tomorrow cause the same person will be working. Sigh.

I am really enjoying this audio book thing. It may take longer than actually reading the book, its so much easier. I think I am actually getting more of the books done because I can do all the other things I want/need to do while still listening to the book. I am in a bit of slump when it comes to reading so its nice that I can do other things at the same time.
