5 Turns Around The Sun

I don’t even know where to begin here.

As any of you who are still around I have basically been gone for about two years. I have posted here and there in this time but I haven’t really been here. Its nearly been a solid year since I lasted posted. These same people will also know that I am suffering the worst readers block of my life. Its two years strong, matching day for day with the job I have. I struggle to pick up a physical book.

But my reading life seems to be better this year. With my long driving hours I can get through audio books with much more ease and my reading goal is actually ahead for the first time in the last two year. So here I am trying to find my home here in the words again. I can’t wait to get to know you all again!

The Clock Strikes Four

birthday-4Hello everyone!

Its that time of the year again where I reflect on how much this community means to me. Four years ago today I took the plunge and posted my very first post on this blog and my journey began.

Every year I am flawed by how much the blog has grown and how lovely you all are. While last year for the majority was a complete and utter flop of a year, I did accomplish setting up my own booktube The Written Word. While its still small with only 2 subscribers I want to work on it and grow it like this blog grew.

Despite my flop of a year 128 people decided that I was a worthy read and wanted to know when I actually do things and I thank you for it. And I thank the other 197 of you that have stuck it out with me for longer. If i could dedicate all my time to you guys and putting up things that you are interested in I would!

This community is like my family and I hope to embrace it more and to gain more and more members. We come for the books, and fall in love with the community <3

I hope you are all doing well, ad I hope to keep growing my platforms and getting to know you all so much more in the years to come.

24 Years

bunnybirthday

Heres to my 24th twirl around the sun, and with that I bring you another evil bunny post to mark the day! He just gets more and more aggressive each year. Silly bunny.

In the past year I have completed my course and gotten another job after my old one fell through, but I right now I don’t feel like I have accomplished much. Starting from scratch at a new job that isn’t on the path goal to the one I really want makes me feel… icky. The work environment is not ideal either, but I hope that it gets better with time and becomes less stressful. But as of the 9th I will be starting to officially volunteer at the wildlife sanctuary that helped run my course and this will help keep my name in for job opportunities. Even if the thought of getting up at 6am to go to work there hurts me on many levels haha.

After finishing work today (writing this post ahead of time) my boyfriend is taking me out to dinner and then we have tickets to see Suicide Squad because it came out today. SO EXCITED. This movie better be as amazing as I want it to be. I was tossing up between it and the Absolutely Fabulous movie, but since I know he will not get as much enjoy from that as me so my mother and I are going to see it in gold class after I am done with the sanctuary for the day. So many good movies <3

But birthdays mean hauls and I know thats what everyone really wants ;) I don’t think I am going to be getting many books for this particular birthday, but depending on the kind of things I get I may do a birthday haul anyway. I will be doing two book hauls however for the time period that I have been away, one for books I have bought and one for books that have been sent to me by publishers. Until then however, I think thats about all I should say for this blog. I hope you guys all have a wonderful day!

Book Haul – July & August

Book Haul

Now I don’t remember in when in this time I got any of these books, so they are in no particular order. Welcome to my birthday book haul :)

whats left of meI should not exist. But I do.

Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t . . .

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable-hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet . . . for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.

sandman vol 1The Sandman is the universally lauded masterwork following Morpheus, Lord of the Dreaming–a vast hallucinatory landscape housing all the dreams of any and everyone who’s ever existed. Regardless of cultures or historical eras, all dreamers visit Morpheus’ realm–be they gods, demons, muses, mythical creatures, or simply humans who teach Morpheus some surprising lessons.

Upon his escape from an embarrassing captivity at the hands of a mere mortal, Morpheus finds himself at a crossroads, forced to deal with the enormous changes within both himself and his realm. His journey to find his place in a world that’s drastically changed takes him through mythical worlds to retrieve his old heirlooms, the back roads of America for a twisted reunion, and even Hell itself–to receive the dubious honor of picking the next Devil. But he’ll learn his greatest lessons at the hands of his own family, the Endless, who–like him–are walking embodiments of the most influential aspects of existence.

This massive hardcover tome, over 1000 pages, collects the first 37 issues of Neil Gaiman’s groundbreaking series!

to kill a mocking birdThe unforgettable novel of a childhood in a sleepy Southern town and the crisis of conscience that rocked it, To Kill A Mockingbird became both an instant bestseller and a critical success when it was first published in 1960. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize in 1961 and was later made into an Academy Award-winning film, also a classic.

Compassionate, dramatic, and deeply moving, To Kill A Mockingbird takes readers to the roots of human behavior—to innocence and experience, kindness and cruelty, love and hatred, humor and pathos. Now with over 18 million copies in print and translated into forty languages, this regional story by a young Alabama woman claims universal appeal. Harper Lee always considered her book to be a simple love story. Today it is regarded as a masterpiece of American literature.

Two Years Old + Giveaway

2nd_birthday_cake

Well guys, its that time of the year again. On this day two years ago I took the plunge and signed up for wordpress to start reviewing the many books I read.

I have loved every minute of it.

I know I said this last year but my feelings havent changed. I am so grateful to this community. You take in people without a thought, all because we all share this deep love and passion for books. I can honestly say that no one in my face to face life feels this way about them, but you guys do and that make you my book family. It means so much to me to have somewhere to go that everyone feels the same way I do and is completely understanding of me.

Since last year I have gained 138 new follows with a total of 197. That’s more than double the amount of follows I gained in my first year of this blog. I know I am still not a very big blog but each and everyone one of you mean so much to me. Everytime I gain someone new its an addition to my family. It lets me know that other people feel the same way as me and I am not just talking to myself out there. If it were not for you guys I would not be getting the books Penguin are always sending me now (which is just so exciting), and I would not have a place where I feel this at home.

From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank the entire blogging community, from my follows to those I haven’t even met yet. Thank you.

As a thank you to you all I would also like to host two giveaways! One for Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead and one for Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead. Originally these were going to be Australia only giveaways since it will cost me at least $20 to post things over seas, but since it looks like I will be getting a job at the end of next week and since you guys mean so much to me I have decided to make them world wide contests. They will run for one month, mostly because I need to make sure I have enough money to send them out even if I don’t end up getting a job.

So I Am 22

The bunny may not want to wish me a happy birthday to me but I don’t mind cause he is funny. This picture is pretty much the only reason for this post, I needed to share it.

Normally I would be feeling pretty useless with the changing of age because I haven’t felt like I was moving forward, but I don’t feel like that so far this year. I feel like I have started to move things in the right direction general life wise and I am still enjoying book blogging as much as when I started. I am going to have a quiet night with people just coming over to drink, have cake, and fail at playing video games but I am looking forward to it :)

Birthdays equals many new books on the way so yay! I should be doing a couple of book hauls soon so keep an eye out for that.
