Book Haul – February

Book Haul

So I went a little crazy with books this month. I didn’t spend an awful lot (cough), it was just things on sale and the fact that I hadn’t bought any books in the year yet got to me.

carnivoures of ausSo I think this is the one I missed at my December book haul, and since text books are such a serious purchase I shall always include them :)

The Australian continent provides a unique perspective on the evolution and ecology of carnivorous animals. Since European settlement, Australia has seen the extinction of one large marsupial predator (the thylacine), another (the Tasmanian devil) is in danger of imminent extinction, and still others have suffered dramatic declines. By contrast, two recently-introduced predators, the fox and cat, have been spectacularly successful, with devastating impacts on the Australian fauna. Carnivores of Australia: Past, Present and Future explores Australia’s unique predator communities from prehistoric, historic and current perspectives. It covers mammalian, reptilian and avian carnivores, both native and introduced to Australia. It also examines the debate surrounding how best to manage predators to protect livestock and native biodiversity. By emphasizing Australian carnivores as exemplars of flesh-eaters in other parts of the world, this book will be an important reference for researchers, wildlife managers and students worldwide.

A FALLEN ANGEL
A FORBIDDEN LOVE

Romance was not part of Nora Grey’s plan. She’s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora’s not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can’t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen – and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life.

Fdreamfeverinding out that she is the True Dream Walker hasn’t gone at all the Joshlyn Weaver would have expected it to. The only special gift she seems to have is an ability to create archways, which really isn’t that special. In addition to her inability to connect with the Dream, she has also started having nightmares that are so terrible she can’t tell anyone about them. Not even Will.

Just when Josh thought her life couldn’t get any more complicated, the lost dream walker princess returns to claim her parents’ right to the throne, right as the Lodestone party threatens to take control of the government during the upcoming Accordance Conclave.

With the clock running down, Josh must rely on not only her friends, but also her enemies, to stop the radicals from taking power and controlling the Dream. But how can she expect to save everyone else when she’s struggling to pick up the pieces of her own shattered life?

She’s not the person she’s always believed herself to be, and her whole life begins to unravel – all because of Finn Holmes. Finn is a darkly handsome newcomer and every encounter with him leaves her deeply shaken. . . though it has more to do with her fierce attraction to him than she’d ever admit.

He’s also here to tell her the shocking truth: Wendy is a changeling who was switched at birth – and he’s come to take her home. Now Wendy’s about to journey to a magical world she never knew existed, one that’s both beautiful and frightening. And she must leave her old life behind to discover who she’s meant to become. . .

frostfireWill she give up her dream to follow her heart?

Bryn Aven is determined to gain status amongst the Kanin, the most powerful of the hidden tribes. But as a half-blood, winning respect is a huge challenge. Bryn’s almost-human community distrusts people, and those from other tribes are almost as suspect.

She has just one goal to get ahead: to join the elite guard protecting the Kanin royal family. And Bryn’s vowed that nothing will stand in her way, not even a forbidden romance with her boss, Ridley Dresden.

But her plans are put on hold when fallen hero Konstantin starts acting dangerously. Bryn loved him once, but now he’s kidnapping Kanin children – stealing them from hidden placements within human families. She’s sent to help stop him, but will she lose her heart in the process?

promise of the wolvesBorn of a forbidden, mixed-blood litter and an outcast after her mother is exiled, spirited young she-wolf Kaala is grudgingly permitted to join the Swift River wolf pack where she must fight to prove herself and survive against the odds. But when Kaala rescues a human child from drowning, she breaks the first and oldest tenet of the promise of the wolves — never consort with humans — and sets in train a series of events that threatens the very survival of her species. As war looms between wolf and humankind, Kaala discovers the truth behind the promise of the wolves: a discovery which could lead to her death and the destruction of all she holds dear. Set 14,000 years ago in what is now southern Europe, Promise of the Wolves is the first in a spellbinding trilogy which takes readers on an epic journey into the rich and fascinating world of the wolf.

February Wrap Up

wrapup

First things first, I don’t really have anything to put here because I did not finish reading anything last month. The only thing I really got through was Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon, and that book is huge, specially when I am doing it in audio book form, so I have much of it left to finish.

Second, I do not have a TBR for you this month. I do not plan on reading anything. Last months lack of reading and this months not planning on reading all have to do with my tafe course. My major work for it is due at the start of April, so I have been avoiding books in the hopes that it would help me focus on it. It has and it hasn’t. I am having huge book withdrawals.

But this post is not going to be all pointless. I have done some bookish things and I thought this would be a good space to share with you all the posts I have scheduled to pop up while I am trying not to think about my blog or books. I have pretty much an entire month planned! Go me. I don’t think I have ever felt more organised.

Anyways, here we go:

7/3 – Book Haul February

8/3 – TTT – Character Opinions I Differed On

10/3 – Thursday Tags – 25 Bookish Facts About Me

13/3 – Sunday Shopping – Happy Hello! Harry Potter

15/3 – TTT – Autumn TBR

16/3 – Book Review – His Dark Materials

19/3 – Book Review – Losing You

22/3 – TTT – Books I Need To Talk More About

25/3 – Book Review – Newes From the Dead

28/3 – Unscheduled

29/3 – TTT – Recently Top Rated Books

31/3 – Unscheduled

So yeah, there you have my posting schedule for the month. Besides those two things which I have started writing up but am not quite finish so may change my mind about, this is what you will be getting while I am ‘away.’ Is this something you guys want to see more regularly? I know other bloggers do it weekly but I can’t see myself doing that. I can see myself doing it monthly or fortnightly though. Also, if you have any tags you would like me to do leave a comment. I have a bunch of them but if you have ones that you would like to see earlier or what not tell me.

Till Next Time. . .

February Wrap Up + March TBR

wrapup

Welcome back to another wrap up. Since I have been in a slump that feels like it has been going on for ages, I got lots of reading done this month compared to how my months have been for last forever. I also moved house and it is so so pretty. So happy with where I am right now. I just need to weather to be cooler and to find a job and things will be right with the world. So here are the books I read this month:

the indigo spell The Dogs Unwanted Dreamfire

The-Fiery-Heart-cover-hires

Now, I am going to participate in a March’s AYearAThon theme, so if you want to see what I am planning on reading for it that post will be going up at the same time tomorrow (Tuesday, 02/03). What I want to read outside of this I am not completely sure, so I will just give you a small list of things that I know I will be reading:

silver shadows Ruby Circle The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen v2

I hope the rest of you got a lot of reading done in the month of February and that March will be even better for you!
