Devil and the Deep Release Day Party

Ceruleans series poster

Hello everyone!

I was contacted by Megan Tyte to be a part of the party for the release of her new book, Devil in the Deep. This is the fourth book in her The Ceruleans series. I have not yet had the chance to read them myself, but my good friend over at Author Unpublished has read and reviewed them all so here are her reviews for Death Wish, Forget Me Not, Wild Blue Yonder, and Devil and the Deep. Her review of the first and the high rating of the rest most certainly has me wanting to pick them really soon.

And I have wonderful news for you all. If you are in the same boat as me and want to read the books but don’t own a copy, well for the entire release day, September 30th, the first three books are free on amazon. There is also a contest being held so you can have a chance to win the last book as well! Devil and the Deep Giveaway. So join the party guys, go pick up a few free books and join in to win some awesome stuff.

Devil and the Deep cover

Scarlett is living her happy-ever-after, back in the real world. Only the ‘happy’ part is proving problematic.

For starters, there’s the isolation. Being a Cerulean among humans is fraught with risk, so her time with people can only be fleeting. Which means being with Luke but not being with Luke.

Then there’s her Cerulean light, her power over life and death. Less awesome talent, as it turns out, and more overwhelming responsibility. And it comes with rules – rules that are increasingly difficult to obey.

But what’s really pushing Scarlett to the precipice is something much bigger than herself, than her life in the cove. A force to be reckoned with:

When long-buried truths are exposed, will Scarlett keep her head above water – or will she drown in the blood-dimmed tide that is unleashed?

AYearAThon – March (Wrap Up)

The first day of this read-a-thon was a pretty big success I think, I read five smallish books in total. The rest of the week pretty much didn’t happen. I had a friend over and day two, I went to my mothers to try and get things done on day three which also wasted day four because things with my mother take much longer than anything ever should. On day five I finally got my desk in my new house and I had to take the opportunity to paint things. I don’t even really remember what on earth happened on day six and seven… I feel like day six might have been more productive.

So because I didn’t do anything for days and I don’t remember the last two I am not going to show you what I did each day, I am just going to show you what I read, what I started reading, and how many pages I read in total. So here we go!

Books I Read:

VA18 VA19 VA Ice blue Sin VA Fleeting Dreams

sandman-dreamhunters the-story-of-the-treasure-seekers-final quicksand pony petshop of horrors 1

petshop of horrors 2 faeries queene

Books I Started:

Total Pages Read: 1869

And that is it for this wrap up. I am really looking forward to the next theme, fantasy. I can totally get on board with that and I hope to just charge it.

Top Ten Tuesday – If You Like Fantasy

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created over at Broke and the Bookish where every Tuesday, Top Ten things of anything are listed. Todays Top Ten things are:

Top Ten Books For Readers Who Like Fantasy

Gah, I loathe these lists. I don’t like comparing things this way, specially if its comparing books to other books. It is done so often now. I also feel like I do these lists all the time… Be sure to go to the bottom on the list or the side bar and join my book giveaways for Silver Shadows and Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead.

1. Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier. Purely an amazingly woven bit of fantasy. The first book is one of my favourites and I just spent nearly $50 on a mass market paperback copy of the second because my series wouldn’t have been perfect without that copy (fingers crossed it is what it says it is.)

2. The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey. Just a magical slow paced story. Might be everyone’s thing, but its amazing to me.

3. The Cursed Kingdoms by Emily Gee. This series seems to have a few negative reviews with it but I don’t really see why. It has huge potential to get really good towards the end. People don’t give stories the chance to build themselves up these days.

4. Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. While I didn’t like the end to this book so much I really liked the perspective and angle that this story took on one of my all time favourite stories.

5. The Forgotten War by Howard Sargent. If you can get through epic stories I think that you will really enjoy this one.

6. The Queen of the Tearling series by Erika Johansen. I have started the second and I am so excited to see where it all goes.

7. Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. Don’t take its reading grade label to heart, it is a wonderful series and I need to pick up the next one already.

8. The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. Very interesting take and distortion of disney stories we all know and love.

9. The Returned by Jason Mott. Now again I don’t think everyone will like this because its slow but if you like the slow ones you should give it a go.

10. Dreamfire by Kit Alloway. While not the best thing I have read, the idea is really interesting and I shall be reading the next one to see where this story will be going.

Two Years Old + Giveaway

Well guys, its that time of the year again. On this day two years ago I took the plunge and signed up for wordpress to start reviewing the many books I read.

I have loved every minute of it.

I know I said this last year but my feelings havent changed. I am so grateful to this community. You take in people without a thought, all because we all share this deep love and passion for books. I can honestly say that no one in my face to face life feels this way about them, but you guys do and that make you my book family. It means so much to me to have somewhere to go that everyone feels the same way I do and is completely understanding of me.

Since last year I have gained 138 new follows with a total of 197. That’s more than double the amount of follows I gained in my first year of this blog. I know I am still not a very big blog but each and everyone one of you mean so much to me. Everytime I gain someone new its an addition to my family. It lets me know that other people feel the same way as me and I am not just talking to myself out there. If it were not for you guys I would not be getting the books Penguin are always sending me now (which is just so exciting), and I would not have a place where I feel this at home.

From the bottom of my heart I wish to thank the entire blogging community, from my follows to those I haven’t even met yet. Thank you.

As a thank you to you all I would also like to host two giveaways! One for Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead and one for Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead. Originally these were going to be Australia only giveaways since it will cost me at least $20 to post things over seas, but since it looks like I will be getting a job at the end of next week and since you guys mean so much to me I have decided to make them world wide contests. They will run for one month, mostly because I need to make sure I have enough money to send them out even if I don’t end up getting a job.
