March 2017

Hello my blogging lovelies <3

As those of you who have been around for awhile now you know that I started my blog in March back in the day and in the years since I have tried celebrating this by giving you more content than I normally would. Now, last year was a flop for me so this year I really want to set myself the challenge of putting up a post a day for the whole of March! I am not sure what yet, and I haven’t got everything mapped out or planned like I wanted, but I am going to push through anyway. If there is any kind of content you would like to see me try or do again please let me know! I am already planning on trying some other videos other than unboxings, I would like to aim for one video a week but don’t hold me to that.

See you in the words.

March Wrap Up

wrapup

Hey guys, how have you been this month? Sorry I haven’t seen or really responded to any messages you have sent me. As I said in my last wrap up my major work has been consuming my life and its due on the 7th :'( so I am still consumed. I just wanted to pop in a give you guys a quick update.

Here are the kind of things I have been reading this last month:

carnivoures of aus Australian Mammals predatores with pouches

But then once all my school work is over I get to read again! Or at least a bit more because I will still be busy till the end of April. But I can plan on reading a few books so here are a couple I want to get into right away:

the-sacred-lies-of-minnow-bly-stephanie-oakes passenger

As a reward for finishing my major work I am getting myself a new bookcase to hold all the books I have gotten while I haven’t been able to read. So there might be a bookcase organisation video and tour for you guys in the future :) I haven’t planned or scheduled anything though because I need to focus, and I will want to have a bit of me time to just read.

February Wrap Up

wrapup

First things first, I don’t really have anything to put here because I did not finish reading anything last month. The only thing I really got through was Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon, and that book is huge, specially when I am doing it in audio book form, so I have much of it left to finish.

Second, I do not have a TBR for you this month. I do not plan on reading anything. Last months lack of reading and this months not planning on reading all have to do with my tafe course. My major work for it is due at the start of April, so I have been avoiding books in the hopes that it would help me focus on it. It has and it hasn’t. I am having huge book withdrawals.

But this post is not going to be all pointless. I have done some bookish things and I thought this would be a good space to share with you all the posts I have scheduled to pop up while I am trying not to think about my blog or books. I have pretty much an entire month planned! Go me. I don’t think I have ever felt more organised.

Anyways, here we go:

7/3 – Book Haul February

8/3 – TTT – Character Opinions I Differed On

10/3 – Thursday Tags – 25 Bookish Facts About Me

13/3 – Sunday Shopping – Happy Hello! Harry Potter

15/3 – TTT – Autumn TBR

16/3 – Book Review – His Dark Materials

19/3 – Book Review – Losing You

22/3 – TTT – Books I Need To Talk More About

25/3 – Book Review – Newes From the Dead

28/3 – Unscheduled

29/3 – TTT – Recently Top Rated Books

31/3 – Unscheduled

So yeah, there you have my posting schedule for the month. Besides those two things which I have started writing up but am not quite finish so may change my mind about, this is what you will be getting while I am ‘away.’ Is this something you guys want to see more regularly? I know other bloggers do it weekly but I can’t see myself doing that. I can see myself doing it monthly or fortnightly though. Also, if you have any tags you would like me to do leave a comment. I have a bunch of them but if you have ones that you would like to see earlier or what not tell me.

Till Next Time. . .

Book Haul – March

Book Haul

SimonVS_quote_NEWSent to me by the publisher.

Very tiny haul this month. I spent a lot of money on a single book and other non book related things such as shoes and makeup so I didn’t have a lot of money left to get more. Oh well, my TBR list is far too long anyways.

Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

throne-of-glass-coverAfter serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.

Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her… but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead… quickly followed by another.

Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

AYearAThon – March (Wrap Up)

Yearathon

The first day of this read-a-thon was a pretty big success I think, I read five smallish books in total. The rest of the week pretty much didn’t happen. I had a friend over and day two, I went to my mothers to try and get things done on day three which also wasted day four because things with my mother take much longer than anything ever should. On day five I finally got my desk in my new house and I had to take the opportunity to paint things. I don’t even really remember what on earth happened on day six and seven… I feel like day six might have been more productive.

So because I didn’t do anything for days and I don’t remember the last two I am not going to show you what I did each day, I am just going to show you what I read, what I started reading, and how many pages I read in total. So here we go!

Books I Read:

VA18 VA19 VA Ice blue Sin VA Fleeting Dreams

sandman-dreamhunters the-story-of-the-treasure-seekers-final quicksand pony petshop of horrors 1

petshop of horrors 2 faeries queene

Books I Started:

the-forest-of-hands-and-teeth

Total Pages Read: 1869

And that is it for this wrap up. I am really looking forward to the next theme, fantasy. I can totally get on board with that and I hope to just charge it.

If you would like to win a copy of Silver Shadows or Ruby Circle by Richelle Mead be sure to click on the links to my rafflecopter giveaways below.

AYearAThon – March

Yearathon

AYearAThon is a read a thon that happens each month throughout the year with different themes. You can find the goodreads group here.

This year I am starting with the March theme because there was no way January was going to happen when I was moving across the country, and the February theme didn’t really interest me that much, so March it is. There doesn’t seem to be a specific time in which this starts, I am starting the clock at midnight my time. This months theme is:

Bench Warmers

For those who might not understand, that means that any books that has been sitting on my shelf for awhile. Even though I am not working at the moment and have a pretty open schedule, I am still going to try and keep my goals simple since I am still dealing with hassles with my new house.

VA18 VA19 VA Ice blue Sin VA Fleeting Dreams

Now I am cheating a little bit because 19 and Fleeting Dreams I got this month, but I want to read the other two and I might as well finish them all off while I am at it. Since they are short I should be able to move onto some other things as well hopefully.

February Wrap Up + March TBR

wrapup

Welcome back to another wrap up. Since I have been in a slump that feels like it has been going on for ages, I got lots of reading done this month compared to how my months have been for last forever. I also moved house and it is so so pretty. So happy with where I am right now. I just need to weather to be cooler and to find a job and things will be right with the world. So here are the books I read this month:

the indigo spell The Dogs Unwanted Dreamfire

The-Fiery-Heart-cover-hires

Now, I am going to participate in a March’s AYearAThon theme, so if you want to see what I am planning on reading for it that post will be going up at the same time tomorrow (Tuesday, 02/03). What I want to read outside of this I am not completely sure, so I will just give you a small list of things that I know I will be reading:

silver shadows Ruby Circle The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen v2

I hope the rest of you got a lot of reading done in the month of February and that March will be even better for you!

Book Haul – March

I bought LOTS of books this month. Having them all displayed in front of me makes me a little ashamed of how much money I spent on books. I think I need to take a break from buying books for awhile…

This first batch is all due to a up to 60% off 50 books over 25 hours sale on The Book Depository. Some I bought cause they were childhood memories, others because I thought they would be funny/enjoyable, and others cause I thought the cover was pretty.

the-story-of-the-treasure-seekers-finalWhen their father’s business fails, the six Bastable children decide to restore the family fortunes. But although they think of many ingenious ways to do so, their well-meant efforts are either more fun than profitable, or lead to trouble — until one adventure has quite unexpected results.

x2_9b15bf6Ren e Winters has changed. When she looks in the mirror, a beautiful girl with an older, sadder face stares back. Her condition has doctors mystified, but Ren e can never reveal the truth: she died last May, and was brought back to life by the kiss of her Undead soul mate, Dante Berlin.

Now, her separation from Dante becomes almost unbearable. His second life is close to an end, and each passing day means one less that she will spend with the boy who shares her soul.

Just when Ren e has almost given up hope, she learns of the Nine Sisters-brilliant scholars who, according to legend, found a way to cheat death. She can’t shake the feeling that they are somehow connected to her dreams, strange visions that hint at a discovery so powerful, and so dangerous, that some will stop at nothing to protect it.

Ren e thought she knew the truth about life and death. But there is a secret woven through history that holds the only hope for Dante and Ren e. Unless they find answers soon, their time together is doomed to be cut short.

71aIaqzVp9L._SL1246_Thomasine has spent months living in her great-great-aunt’s dusty, dark house with her father, and her aunt, uncle and cousins. While her father’s siblings bicker about how much the house must be worth, her distant, elderly aunt is upstairs, dying, and her father has disappeared inside himself, still mourning the death of Thomasine’s little brother.

But one day, her youngest cousin makes a discovery: a wardrobe, filled with all the mirrors missing from the big house. And through the mirrors, a different world – one in which you can find not what you most wish for, but perhaps what you most need …

A beautiful tale of love, grief and growing up, “A House Without Mirrors” is an unforgettable adventure into families and the power of love.

PippaLongstocking1This beautiful edition of the children’s classic Pippi Longstocking is illustrated throughout with wonderful collage pictures from the award-winning Lauren Child. The contemporary design, imaginative layout of the text, and stunning illustrations from Lauren Child all add up to a perfect gift purchase. When the book published in hardback, it gathered many wonderful reviews, including this one from Books for Keeps: ‘Lauren Child is the perfect choice to illustrate this handsome, large format edition of Pippi …her unmistakeable illustrative style helps to bring a modern feel to the book.’ Pippi lives in Villa Villekulla with a horse, a monkey, and a big suitcase full of gold coins. The grown-ups in her village try to make Pippi behave in ways that they think a little girl should, but Pippi has other ideas. She would much rather spend her days arranging wild, exciting adventures to enjoy with her neighbours, Tommy and Annika, or entertaining everyone she meets with her outrageous stories. Pippi thinks nothing of wrestling a circus strongman, dancing a polka with burglars, or tugging a bull’s tail and her wildly unconventional lifestyle is matched by Lauren’s free-spirited illustrations.

9781843913917‘”I am the Guardian of the Gates of the Emerald City. May I inquire who you are, and what is your business?” “My name is Jack Pumpkinhead,” returned the other, smilingly; “but as to my business, I haven’t the least idea in the world what it is.” The Guardian of the Gates looked surprised, and shook his head as if dissatisfied with the reply.’ The sequel to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and set shortly after the events in the first book, The Marvellous Land of Oz follows the adventures of a young boy named Tip, who, for as long as he can remember, has been under the guardianship of a witch named Mombi in the Land of Oz. One night he plans his escape to the Emerald City, stealing Mombi’s powder of life. Along the way he meets with our old friends the Scarecrow and Tin Woodman as well as making some new ones such as Jack Pumpkinhead, the Wooden Sawhorse, the Highly Magnified Woggle-Bug, and the amazing Gump. Can they escape Mombi and make it to the Emerald City? A fantastical tale of endless imagination, The Marvellous Land of Oz is as exciting and endearing today as it was when first published over eighty years ago.

The following books I picked up for $5 each from my local book graveyard. I must save all I can!

♦♦♦

malerion 5A sequel to THE BELGARIAD, Garion has slain the evil God Torak, and fulfilled the prophecy. But suddenly another prophecy is foretold. Again a great evil is brewing in the East. And again Garion finds himself caught between two ancient Prophecies, with the fate of the world resting on him….

♦♦♦

malerion 1In this second book of The Malloreon, Garion and Ce’nedra continue the quest begun in Guardians of the West. In their party travel the immortal Belgarath the Sorcerer, his daughter Polgara the Sorceress, and the little Drasnian, Silk.

Garion knows that it is the mysterious figure Zandramas who is responsible for the abduction of his infant son, and he and his companions journey many miles and encounter many strange beings in their search for him.

Their way leads through the foul swamps of Nyissa, ruled over by the Snake-Queen, and on into the dark kingdom of the Murgos, where human sacrifices are still made to the dead god Torak. Further on, however, even beyond those forbidding lands, they must face the ultimate danger – not only to themselves but to all mankind…

♦♦♦

malerion 2In an adventurous sequel to THE MALLOREAN, David Eddings tells the story of King Garion’s abducted infant son and his efforts to save him. Unfortunately, he and his friends are detained by the friendly, but determined Zakath, who refuses to let them leave. As a horde of demons ravage the Cities and a plague lets loose its terrors, Garion has little time left to reach his destination, or the kidnapper wins by default.

♦♦♦

malerion 3As the bestselling THE Mallorean series contnues, Garion is pursuing Zandramas, in the form of a great dragon flying over them, across the known world. With the forces of evil threatening on both sides, Garion still had to get to the Place Which Is No More, as the Seeress of Kell had warned, but they had no idea where that might be….

♦♦♦

malerion 4Now in the final stages of their quest for his son, Garion and his companions travel to Kell to consult the only undamaged copy of the Malloreon Gospels. For centuries the Seers have guarded this book from the Grolims and even had their wizards put a curse of blindness on any Grolim who tried to enter Kell.

So, as proclaimed in Guardians of the West, Belgarion the Godslayer sets out with those who must join him: the Eternal Man, the Guide, the Man with Two Lives, the Bearer of the Orb and the Silent Man, and the rest of his companions to The Place Which Is No More to make the final choice – darkness or light.

But Zandramas the Sorceress will not be outdone. Though she may not enter Kell she still has young Geran and should she reach the final meeting place with him, then Garion must slay his son or the world will be no more.

♦♦♦

goodwivesAmy looked relieved, but naughty Jo took her at her word, for during the first call she sat with every limb gracefully composed, every fold correctly draped, calm as a summer sea, cool as a snowbank, and as silent as the sphinx. In vain Mrs. Chester alluded to her ‘charming novel’, and the Misses Chester introduced parties, picnics, the opera, and the fashions. Each and all were answered by a smile, a bow, and a demure “Yes” or “No” with the chill on.

And there we have it. I bought all these books by the 7th so I put myself on a book buying ban because of it so next months haul may be a bit small. If you are interested in any of these books just click on the picture and it will take you to the same copy I bought via my affiliate link!
