May AYearAThon & RYBSAT Round 8

2016ayearathon

AYearAThon is a read a thon that happens each month throughout the year with different themes. You can find the goodreads group here. RYBSAT happens a couple of times throughout the year and is where you pick a spot on your shelf and read from that point onwards. You can find the event at its twitter here.

Hello everyone! I feel like it has been forever since I was partaking in AYearThon because of studies and I thought May’s (2nd-8th) Finish/Catch Up would be a good theme to join in again. So many things I need to finish! But then I also have RYBSAT at the same time (1st-8th) so I had to find a spot on my shelf that filled both ideas. This is what I came up with:

shelf

I am starting from Child of the Prophecy by Juliet Marillier and then working my way down and across. I hope to at least finish a couple of the books, but I still have assignments to do even though my major one has been handed in so I don’t want to be to ambitious.

Now I will be cheating a little for RYBSAT as I am nearly done with Soundless by Richelle Mead so I intend on finishing (and hopefully have finished it by the time this post is published) on the first day and then going to my official starting point and reading.

Now because RYBSAT seems to be pretty twitter based, I will be doing regular updates about it on my twitter account @ThWrittenWord, and then I will be doing updates every couple of days on here about both read a thons. Hope you guys join in and have fun!

Book Haul – May

Book Haul

Now in my last book haul I said I would hold off buying more books for a couple of months and so far I held true to that! The four books (hahaha) that I have in this book haul today are ones that I have been given this month. Let me tell you it has been really difficult because there have been a few books I really want released this month but I have held off! No doubt when I break my book ban I am just going to go buy heaps of books again… Oh well thats future Jazz’s problem.

nana5So my boyfriend and I have an agreement that every dollar I spend on him from food to petrol getting him places, he must spend said dollar on books for me. These are two of those books. Thank you!

Nana K. is going home–for an awesome TrapNest concert! She drags Nana O. along, convinced that somehow Ren will sense his ex-flame in the audience. But life is never that easy, and Nana O. isn’t sure if she even wants Ren back. As for Nana K., is she prepared for TrapNest to come down off the stage and into her life, or will her fan-girl attitude land her in a heap of trouble?

saint anythingThank you to Penguin for sending me this book!

Peyton, Sydney’s charismatic older brother, has always been the star of the family, receiving the lion’s share of their parents’ attention and—lately—concern. When Peyton’s increasingly reckless behavior culminates in an accident, a drunk driving conviction, and a jail sentence, Sydney is cast adrift, searching for her place in the family and the world. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the only one concerned about the victim of the accident?

Enter the Chathams, a warm, chaotic family who run a pizza parlor, play bluegrass on weekends, and pitch in to care for their mother, who has multiple sclerosis. Here Sydney experiences unquestioning acceptance. And here she meets Mac, gentle, watchful, and protective, who makes Sydney feel seen, really seen, for the first time.

The uber-popular Sarah Dessen explores her signature themes of family, self-discovery, and change in her twelfth novel, sure to delight her legions of fans.

what she leftThank you Penguin for sending me this book!

Gone doesn’t mean forgotten.

When Alice Salmon died last year, the ripples were felt in the news, on the internet, and in the hearts of those who knew her best.

But the person who knows her most intimately isn’t family or a friend. Dr Jeremy Cook is an academic whose life has become about piecing together Alice’s existence in all its flawed and truthful reality.

For Cooke, faithfully recreating Alice’s life – through her diaries, emails and anything using her voice – is all-consuming. He does not know how deep his search will take him, or the shocking nature of what he will uncover…

So since my haul is rather dull this week I present to you a little something extra! This is some my book adventure during the month of April. Enjoy ~

April Wrap Up + May TBR

wrapup

I had a bit of a slow month here. I am behind on actually writing up the reviews for the books I have been reading so I have put reading more on the back burner until I have caught up with those. Plus, working six days a week doesn’t help. Anyway here are the books I read this month:

The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen v2 throne-of-glass-cover The-Archived Ava-lavender_march.png

I am not going to include a TBR in this post because my next one will be my April AYearAThon TBR and I would just be repeating myself.

AYearAThon – May Wrap Up

ayearathonimage

Now I know you may be thinking, Jazz, your last update was day one. What the hell happened to the day in-between the first and the last day?

Well I meant to update you all. I really did. But then I got super busy on Tuesday, getting myself a new kitten (who can argue with that).

Wednesday I was so tired I couldn’t read cause said kitten kept waking me up during the night and I cannot read when Im sleepy, it just puts me to sleep.

Thursday and Friday I didn’t finish work till really late so didn’t have time before I went to bed.

Saturday I finally got some reading done but didn’t see the point in updating for the second to last day.

And today, Sunday, I didn’t get much done because I had to take said kitten to the vet because she literally played so hard that she pulled things in her leg Saturday night, and because I was freaking out cause she kept crying and limping, I again didn’t sleep. So yeah… This read-a-thon was kind of a dud. I did finish a series though! Yay me. Now onto my final tally:

Pages Read: 1090

Books Read:

  1. Keeping Her by Cora Carmack
  2. Faking It by Cora Carmack
  3. Finding It by Cora Carmack
  4. Seeking Her by Cora Carmack

Books Unfinished:

  1. A Shade Of Blood by Bella Forrest

If you partook in this too send me a link to your wrap up so that I can see how you did!

AYearAThon – May (Day 1)

ayearathonimage

Update!!!!!!

Now I am actually really quite proud of myself. I didn’t push myself to really read, I just did it very relaxed like and I read way more than I thought I would. I had a short work day, so that didn’t affect me very much, but I also had a family dinner with my boyfriends family cause it was his sisters birthday, so that ate quite a lot of time. I am not working tomorrow/today though so I get to charge it then!

Monday Day 1

Pages Read: 261

Books Read: Keeping Her by Cora Carmack

AYearAThon – May

AYearAThon is a read a thon that happens each month throughout the year with different themes. You can find the goodreads group here.

Now I don’t plan on doing all of them, but I will be doing some!

May’s theme runs from the 5-11, and since there doesn’t seem to be a specific time in which this starts, I am starting the clock at midnight my time. This months theme is:

Finish/Catch Up On A Series

I think I get like one day off of work during this time, so I am going to keep my reading list really simple (easy short books) and try and beat it if I can, but I doubt I will. I can’t read when I’m tired, it just puts me to sleep. So I plan on finishing reading:

The Losing It Series by Cora Carmack.

losing it3

losing it4

losing it

losing it1

And if I finish those I will finish reading A Shade Of Vampire Series by Bella Forrest.

ashadeofvampire2 ashadeofvampire3 ashadeofvampire4 ashadeofvampire5

ashadeofvampire6

Its a very big list but the books are not very long. I doubt I will finish all of them, but meh. I will be posting updates… Daily? At least I shall try.

As always if you wish to pick up a copy of these books, click on the cover.
