October Wrap Up + November Schedule

I am going to keep this one short and sweet this week. I took part in Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon and managed to get a couple of books down, finish one from last month and I am currently a good way through Kingdom of Ash. I am really enjoying it and thus far it seems like its going to be a good way to end the series.

Book Haul – September – November

Book Haul

I have quite a few since I am doing 3 months worth of books, and I don’t remember when I got each so they re in no particular order. Lets get started shall we?

Books I Bought:

queen of shadowsThe queen has returned.

Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she’s at last returned to the empire—for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past…

She has embraced her identity as Aelin Galathynius, Queen of Terrasen. But before she can reclaim her throne, she must fight.

She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die for her. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved to a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen’s triumphant return.

The fourth volume in the New York Times bestselling series continues Celaena’s epic journey and builds to a passionate, agonizing crescendo that might just shatter her world.

animals of farthing woodA group of forest animals unite to help each other to safety in this classic tale of tolerance, cooperation, survival, and friendship. When bulldozers enter Farthing Wood, the animals must escape before their homes are destroyed. They promise to stick together and protect each other – but then they get caught in a fire and nearly drown crossing a river. Will their pact hold? Both heart-wrenching and heartwarming, this beloved story has been translated into 16 languages.

ouran box setOne day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the ‘Host Club’, a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. To pay back the damages, she is forced to work for the club, and it’s there that she discovers just how wealthy the boys are and how different they are from everybody else.

beedle bardThe Tales of Beedle the Bard, a Wizarding classic, first came to Muggle readers’ attention in the book known as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Now, thanks to Hermione Granger’s new translation from the ancient runes, we present this stunning edition with an introduction, notes, and illustrations by J. K. Rowling, and extensive commentary by Albus Dumbledore. Never before have Muggles been privy to these richly imaginative tales: “The Wizard and the Hopping Pot,” “The Fountain of Fair Fortune,” “The Warlock’s Hairy Heart,” “Babbitty Rabbitty and Her Cackling Stump,” and of course, “The Tale of the Three Brothers.” But not only are they the equal of fairy tales we now know and love, reading them gives new insight into the world of Harry Potter.

MissPeregrinesA mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs.

A horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

Because You'll Never Meet MeOllie and Moritz are best friends, but they can never meet. Ollie is allergic to electricity. Contact with it causes debilitating seizures. Moritz’s weak heart is kept pumping by an electronic pacemaker. If they ever did meet, Ollie would seize. But Moritz would die without his pacemaker. Both hermits from society, the boys develop a fierce bond through letters that become a lifeline during dark times—as Ollie loses his only friend, Liz, to the normalcy of high school and Moritz deals with a bully set on destroying him.

A story of impossible friendship and hope under strange circumstances, this debut is powerful, dark and humorous in equal measure. These extraordinary voices bring readers into the hearts and minds of two special boys who, like many teens, are just waiting for their moment to shine.

Sent To Me By Publishers:

Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . .

soundlessThis book was sent to me upon request by Penguin. THANK YOU!!!!

For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.

But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.

Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever…

the red queenThis book was sent to me unsolicited by Penguin. THANK YOU!!!!

Battle-scarred and lovelorn, haunted by memories of her beloved Rushton, Elspeth is not prepared for what she finds at the end of the black road she travels: the Compound, a lost community with a startling secret. As Elspeth strives against her captors, she learns that Rushton and her friends have fallen into the hands of the deadly slavemasters that rule the Red Land. And worst of all, as Elspeth stumbles, the Destroyer creeps ever closer to his goal: awakening the cataclysmically destructive weaponmachines that Elspeth has been charged with stopping. Has all her sacrifice been in vain?

unforgivenFRUTIGERThis book was sent to me unsolicited by Penguin. THANK YOU!!!!

Tick-tock.

Spread your wings and cry as bad boy dark angel Cam finally reveals his anguished heart in the epic new FALLEN novel, UNFORGIVEN.

September – November Wrap Up

wrapup

Hey guys! Im back kind of. I just want to say sorry for vanishing off the face of the earth for awhile there. I got so busy its actually quite silly. September was pretty normal, but then I got sick for about 3 weeks from two different things which is unheard of for me because I dont get sick but god did I, which stuffed up many plans and cost me about $300 in failed plans, something I am still trying to work through. It also put me behind in school work, which I had to cram in before the end of the semester. While doing that I also had to prepare for Supanova which I was taking very seriously, but I will talk more about that later one.

First off, in a completely random has nothing to do with books but I got my new pair of headphones which I have been waiting for, for about a year if not more.

Ok now if you have been paying attention you may have known why I was so excited for Supanova, but if not now I will clue you in. I got to meet a few wonderful authors such as Juliet Marillier who wrote one of my all time favourite books Daughter Of The Forest, Isobelle Carmody who wrote The Obernewtyn Chronicles, and the ever wonderful Sarah J.Maas. To celebrate her coming to Australia I decided to dress up as the Queen of Shadows Cover!

AYearAThon – November (Day 5)

ayearathonimage

I didn’t actually feel like reading anything today, so I am kind of amazed that I read anything at all. Well, listened really. I have been doing an audio book for The Book of Lost Things so that I could do other things at the same time. Anyway, here is what has been achieved so far:

Day 1

Pages Read: 516

Books Finished:

  1. Glitches by Marissa Meyer
  2. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Books Started: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Day 2

Pages Read: 382

Books Finished: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Books Started: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Day 3

Pages Read: 361

Books Finished:

  1. Cress by Marissa Meyer
  2. The Little Android by Marissa Meyer
  3. The Queen’s Army by Marissa Meyer

Books Started: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Day 4

Pages Read: 308

Books Started: The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

Books Read: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Day 5

Pages Read: 301

Books Read: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Books Finished: The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

I adored The Book of Lost Things. Because it was in audio form though I found that I both struggled and loved the format. While I would be trying to do things I would be listening to the book and next thing I know, I would wake out of my trance the story had put me in and realise that I stopped doing whatever it was I was doing ages ago and have just been listening. Then other times I found that because it was audio that I got distracted from it easily and missed section. Weird.

I think the reason for my slump is because of Splintered though. I just really don’t care about it. My OCD side is telling me just to push through, I just have just over three and half hours left until I am done with it. We shall see I guess. I could finish it tomorrow but it might be better to start something else.

If any of you are taking part link me your updates so I can see :)

AYearAThon – November (Days 1-4)

ayearathonimage

I have to say I feel like I am on a good run of reading, it has been so long since I could put so much time to reading! Feels wonderful ^_^ Even though I have taken many breaks, long one since I am trying to move across the country at the same time, I still feel good about everything. Here is what I have done over the last three days:

Day 1

Pages Read: 516

Books Finished:

  1. Glitches by Marissa Meyer
  2. Cinder by Marissa Meyer

Books Started: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Day 2

Pages Read: 382

Books Finished: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Books Started: Cress by Marissa Meyer

Day 3

Pages Read: 361

Books Finished:

  1. Cress by Marissa Meyer
  2. The Little Android by Marissa Meyer
  3. The Queen’s Army by Marissa Meyer

Books Started: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Day 4

Pages Read: 308

Books Started: The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

Books Read: Splintered by A.G. Howard

After I finished what was out of the Lunar Chronicles books I had to go in search of something else and it took forever! I started Splintered but I really wasn’t feeling it so I picked up The Book of Lost Things and I am totally digging it! It was an audio book though because I am trying to get things done, so I probably didn’t get through as much as I would have if I was reading it. My page count seems to be getting lower and lower! I will fix that on the weekend though. During the week I feel like I have to do things while the rest of the world is functioning.

October Wrap Up + November TBR

wrapup

Hey there guys! I am going to be introducing just short and simple wrap ups to my blog to keep you guys up to date on what happened to me during the month, as well as to keep me up to date. Sometimes I swear I have done so much more that I have. This month is no exception. The books I read this month are:

Creed final cover Last Changeling

Yep, that’s right. Two. Just two. I really thought I had read at least three but apparently not! I was supposed to have reviews up for these books by now because I received them both for review from the publisher, but I got busy and didn’t get a chance. I didn’t really like either of these two books so the reviews fell to the not-really-important section of my brain. Expect the reviews to pop up in the next week or so.

Now for the TBR, I think this is going to change depending on what I get done in the AYearAThon read-a-thon over the next week, so if you want to see that TBR lost check it out here. Some other books I want to get read this month are:

All-the-Bright-Places-jkt Ava-lavender_march.png The-Archived

I really hope to have a good reading month since I haven’t had a great one lately.

AYearAThon is a read a thon that happens each month throughout the year with different themes. You can find the goodreads group here.

Since I haven’t done a read-a-thon in ages I am back again for another theme for the year-a-thon! November’s theme runs from the 3-9. There doesn’t seem to be a specific time in which this starts, I am starting the clock at midnight my time. This months theme is:

Fairytale Retelling
